Yahoo! pulls out of South Korea

As reported by TechCrunch, Yahoo! is pulling out of South Korea. This is another step in the growing trend of what were once major cornerstones of the Internet becoming more localized, and not always to the user’s benefit.

South Korean Internet users are now being greeted with a warning that the site will shut down on December 31st, 2012.

Of course, South Koreans using proXPN will still be able to access Yahoo!’s search engine and numerous other features.
