proXPN unveils CloudXPN for developers

proXPN is proud to unveil the latest evolution of their industry leading VPN service. CloudXPN is a secure, private but fully functional network that aims to give users unrivaled peace of mind. It’s effectively a private corner of the Internet, only accessible to users while they are connected to proXPN.

While working to create their extraordinary free VPN service in 2009, the team at proXPN met with numerous Internet security experts and developed plans for CloudXPN, a super secure access and private subset of the Internet. Over the past four years their product plans have been carefully developed and the resulting service will launch soon. The team at proXPN is very proud to announce CloudXPN, a private network only accessible while connected to the Internet with secure access proXPN’s VPN.

Mr. Jon Ingle, a senior technician at proXPN, describes CloudXPN as, “A uniquely secure access and private Internet within the Internet.” It supports the same Internet technologies as the public Internet but CloudXPN’s private Internet is not public Internet accessible.

“When you log on to a public Internet site like Gmail,” says Mr. Ingle, “all data between your device and the proXPN server is encrypted and secure. But once past the proXPN server you’re talking about the public Internet. proXPN hides your IP, prevents people from sniffing packets on your Wi-Fi network, and even stops your ISP from keeping logs of your activity, there’s still a step between the proXPN server and Gmail that’s open and public. CloudXPN eliminates that gap.”

The proXPN development team is issuing an open call to developers who’d like to work in the new CloudXPN environment. Secure email, instant messaging, and file storage are all excellent candidates for new CloudXPN Apps. As all hosting is on the CloudXPN network users will enjoy an unprecedented level of secure access.

CloudXPN App developers will benefit from integrated billing systems tied directly to proXPN user accounts. Developers will also have direct access to proXPN’s existing user base of over two million individuals via exposure in the CloudXPN Marketplace, a showcase of CloudXPN available via proXPN for Mac and Windows as well as proXPN.com.

Developers can build secure access websites with CloudXPN’s new XPN.me domain. Those sites look and function exactly like sites on the open Web, but are accessible only through CloudXPN. While on an active proXPN connection, users can access secure XPN.me websites such as helloworld.xpn.me, a site meant to demonstrate the possibilities of the XPN.me network. Users without a proXPN connection are blocked.

proXPN increases capacity of Texas data center by 100%

Leading freemium VPN service provider proXPN has just announced a 100% increase in bandwidth capacity at its popular Dallas, Texas data center.

proXPN provides thousands of new VPN accounts to users everyday and the Dallas data center is one of the most popular points of connection. Because of the excellent internet infrastructure in Dallas VPN users from throughout North America and all around the world find proXPN’s datacenter to consistently offer excellent speeds while connected to their secure virtual private network.

“Our Dallas data center is an interesting case,” says Mr. Jon Ingle, a senior technician at proXPN. “It provides virtually all users with excellent VPN connections, particularly those who want an American IP address. However, because it’s so fast it also tends to carry one of the highest usage loads. It’s important for us to maintain the speed our users expect.”

Coming just days after an extensive and similar upgrade to proXPN’s New York City data center, the February 2013 Dallas upgrade is yet another step in proXPN’s ongoing efforts to provide the highest performance possible to VPN users across the world.

“We know speed is one of the most important things for our users and we take the task of delivering beyond their expectations very seriously.”

proXPN announces increase in New York capacity

Today proXPN announced a substantial upgrade to its VPN data center in New York City.

Leading freemium VPN service provider proXPN has just announced a 100% increase in the available bandwidth at its popular New York VPN data center.

Demand has grown substantially in the past 3 months for secure VPN connections to New York City, primarily from proXPN’s rapidly expanding base of Canadian VPN users. Canadian proXPN users typically prefer connecting to the New York City data center because of its close proximity to Canada as well as receiving a USA IP address once connected.

“I rely on an American IP for a lot of the sites I visit,” stated Mr. Kurt Berrington, a long time proXPN user. “I’ve tried the other servers in the US but New York consistently gives me the best speed.” Many Canadians rely on attaining an American IP address in order to access content they ordinarily wouldn’t be able to reach.

The way proXPN’s servers work is to provide the user with an IP address in the same region as the datacenter. In the case of the proXPN New York City data center, whether a user is physically located in Canada, Germany, Tibet, or anywhere else the websites they visit will always see them as being located in New York City.

Due to the substantial increase in demand for VPN connections to New York City, proXPN has doubled the bandwidth capacity of its data center. Users will be able to enjoy more responsive web browsing, faster file transfers, and less buffering while watching streaming video.

Plans have already been announced for another upgrade in the available bandwidth at proXPN’s New York City data center in early Q2 2013.

proXPN Announces Over 600% Growth in Canadian Users in 2012

When proXPN launched in May of 2009 they had a goal of giving everyone the ability to protect their own privacy online and provide freedom of choice in the media they consume. That goal has proven to be in line with the growing needs of internet users in Canada.

The proXPN.com team recently ran reports to determine which countries have posted the highest growth in both free and Premium accounts over the 2012 calendar year. To date, Canada tops the list with over 600% growth in Premium accounts since January 1st, 2012.

After conducting interviews with a wide sampling of Canadian customers proXPN was able to determine the top three reasons Canadians use the service as well as why they chose proXPN over other VPN services.

The top reason reported for using proXPN was to unblock videos ordinarily restricted to people in the USA. Netflix was their primary interest, followed closely by Hulu. “Netflix is definitely a popular service for our Canadian users,” added Mr. Ingle, a senior technician at proXPN. The second most popular reason for using proXPN was to access other types of region-restricted content, while the third was the desire to secure their personal privacy online using proXPN’s encrypted connection.

The majority of customers in Canada stated that their primary reason for choosing proXPN over other VPN services was the free software download and account creation process. This was followed by ease of installation and use, and lastly that with data centers in New York City and Seattle, Washington proXPN’s connection speeds consistently beat out those of other VPN services.

Despite enjoying growing popularity in social media and on class-A websites such as MakeUseOf.com, the majority of the growth proXPN has seen in Canada has been through word of mouth.

In 2013 proXPN intends to work closely with Canadian customers on continuing to enhance the service to best serve their needs.
